Suggest you go the the XJ8 section and search on suspension fault. A lot of discussion on this.

The component that fails the most often in the air suspension assembly is the air compressor. Service exchange compressors are available at main agents and also on the internet. Fitting time one hour or less if the mechanic knows what he is doing, i.e has done one before.

However, it might not be this, but reading out the fault codes will tell you. Essentially the suspension controller checks for time taken to charge the air reservoir to its defined pressure; if too long, up comes a fault message and light. For some reason, cold weather makes the problem worse. I suppose it could be worn seals in the compressor that are not sufficiently flexible when cold to prevent blow-by the compressor piston.

Anyway a replacement compressor cured my fault.

Default About Miami

I am a Jag tech down here in Miami and the compressors rarely go out down here. What goes out all the time is the springs, I haven't seen a Jag that the springs don't go out by 5 years... Could it be because of the climate or I just got lucky? Any Jaguar tech replacing a lot of compressors in similar climate?

Just asking...

Here is a link on how the air suspension works btw:
