Default Another "funny"?

Went to the garage to start the car and it would not start.

Now bear in mind that I have never had this problem with this car

and it sounded like the starter was spinning freely so I thought

that the Bendix had gone and it was not engaging the flywheel.

I had a look at removing the starter and have you seen where it is!!??

Above the steering rack and above the subframe-only two bolts but one you

can't see and only touch with the tip of a finger!

I had no curved spanners so had to leave it. Next day a friend came around and when

I tried it again we realized that the engine was spinning!

After a while it started and blew some rubbish out of the back end and it appears to be ok now.

Now my friend has pointed out that other makes specify a throttle body clean as part of a service

but as far as I know Jaguar do not specify this. Had the butterfly stuck due to crud?

Scanned for codes but there were none and there were no lights or messages on the dash.

That night I dreamt about curved spanners!

I don't dismiss many theories immediately anymore. But now, with modern electronics, override this, check that...who knows these days. That's why its so much harder diagnosing cars today than say in the 80's or 90's.
