Default Another Tensioner Question

I am in the middle of doing the secondary tensioners and am very pleased at the moment . There is almost NO slack in the chain. Which makes me feel all warm inside. Quick question though. I picked up Lincoln LS tensioners at a Ford dealership, which is exactly the same as the Jag ones from what I understand. But with a lower price tag. I noticed that the tension exhibited by the new ones is significantly less than the old ones. Did anyone else notice this? Or did ford send me a couple bad eggs?

The tensioners are hydraulic. There will be plenty of tension once they fill with oil.

Thanks for the quick response. I noticed the old one "deflated" a little. I have one tensioner in it right now... One more problem... Good old Ford forgot to give me the bolts! And the old ones are too big. So now my poor Jag has to sit for another 3 days or more before those get in. They have to special order them... Go figure

Yup, you must use the new shorter bolts or they will not seat properly.

Another quick question... I noticed that the tensioners have RB and LB on them which means left bank, right bank. I just want to confirm so I do not get them mixed up. When identifying the left and right banks on the engine. Is it left and right when facing the front of the car? Or is it the "car's" left or right. Meaning, when sitting in the driver seat. I guess an easier way of putting it. Is the left the passenger side and right the driver side? Because that is what I am under the impression it is.

Figured it out... The left and right banks are in relation sitting in the cab. Btw, the right tensioner had it's plastic cap off of it. It was metal on metal!
