Does anyone know if it's possible to switch the armrest storage area to one from another X350? I hate how little room I have for storing stuff in the armrest - seems like a lot of wasted space with the molded insert in there now.

 

I think we loose the space to the rear climate system (a/c and heater unit)

 

Ahhh. That makes sense.

Anybody know how to take the insert out without breaking it at the hinge of the armrest? I just want to peek in there and see if there's an alternative solution I can craft.

 

Had the same issue with my 86. The cubby was larger than our x350 but still pretty small. Once I pulled the cubby out of the 86, there were two large plastic ducts going to the rear, much the same as Mark points out. In the 86 I removed them because the cabin was tiny and heat transferred well to the rear. Also, don't recall having any rear seat passengers.

That said, sorry, I haven't tried removing the x350. If I was to do the same, I don't know how I could fashion a custom replacement.

At least the glove box is massive:-)
