When I had to replace a lower ball joint, I was able to drive out the old joint with a drift. I bought a press to fit the new one, but ran into the issue that there are no right angles and aligning the steering upright to press the new joint in was just too difficult.
I took my upright and my new ball joint to my local independent Jaguar workshop. They had an alignment jig that made the process simple. The cost was very low, less than half an hour's labor.
If I have to replace the other side, I'll go straight to the workshop once I have the upright out of the car.

I sure would like to see the alignment tool Jaguar uses? Might help explain how they position it for pressing?
