Default Battery indicator randomly turns ON while driving

A few months back, I faced this issue of the battery light turning ON suddenly while driving. Other than the indicator turning ON, there is no sign of anything wrong with the drive. So on the next immediate opportunity where I can switch off the ignition and turn it ON again after less than 1 minute, the indicator behaves normal. This started to appear little often, sometimes repeating in the same trip, or sometimes appearing after week or so.

Recently in the last few days, the frequency has increased, and also the light turns ON very soon after ignition.

I don't know what to doubt or what may actually be wrong.

Please advice, how to find what the real cause may be, and how to fix it.

I got the battery and the alternator checked. It is found that the armature of/inside the alternator is damaged/not doing the job.

Can anyone help is there any way to repair that ?

And, what manufacturer/specifications is originally fitted inside the jaguar? What ampere is required for the alternator ?

Which other alternatives do we have for the manufacturer ? And what is the approx price for it ?

Is there anyone who has faced this situation ?

Well, not to complicated you just need to replace the alternator then before it kills the battery. Looking on rock auto they run $75-$155 not including the core charge.
Not sure where you are located.
There are manuals in the "how to" section for the repair.

Thanks. got that.

But can anyone help immediately with the exact specs required in the alternator ? Or in which document will I get that details ? My car is stalled for past 1 week, looking for the exact alternator and different mechs tell me different specs.

I don't have the same car as you, or I would give some more info......

Your signature says 2004 XJ6, we don't have xj6 in US for that year. I'm assuming you are overseas somewhere. Is that correct? Anyway, I hope you find what you need to make the repair.

Yes, I am in UAE, Dubai.

My car specs are attached in the image.... do you need any other specs, not given in the image ? Let me know, I will try to provide if not too technical.

I searched around a bit, but no luck finding any info or manuals on that particular model. Not sure if the engine is the same as US 2004 X-type v6. Hope you have better luck that I did looking for info.

Thanks a ton, Ace.

I am not from technical background, but I believe that logically the engine should be same between your country and here. Yes the difference would be in the air conditioning, and the engine cooling system. To support this, the power requirements may differ a bit, but I think Jaguar would maintain a standard range to make it easier for spares and services.

I dont know if I make any sense. But thanks a ton for this info.

No problem, hope it helps. I would think the 3.0 v6 would be the same engine.
Good luck!

Hi jagnew

If you are not able to source an alternator locally I would suggest you obtain one from

the UK.

eg

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_o...nator&_sacat=0

or

Google:

autoreserve parts

or Eurojag

Hope you get it fixed
