Bluetooth Phone Connection
I have a 2005 XJR which according to various sources should be able to connect to a mobile telephone via Bluetooth. However my car is factory fitted with a Motorola Jaguar telephone option but the telecom providers here no longer support this built in telephone network technology. Is there any way to disable the Motorola and activate the bluetooth? According to videos the activation should start by entering ##3#*#
Not sure, but I think the early X350 were either/or for having the built-in Motorola phone or Bluetooth capability. I also think that later cars ones allowed Bluetooth even if equipped with the built-in phone, but I could be spewing nonsense, as I've never seen a car with the built-in phone.
I believe that Jaguar introduced the bluetooth system in the second half of 2005 with the introduction of the so called X356 or MY2006, so, if your car is an earlier 2005 model, it is very probable that it just has the in built Motorola phone, but no bluetooth, same as my 2003 SV8, which is an early X350.
Does your have an external microphone fitted to the left hand side of the overhead central console? If no, then your car has no bluetooth.
Retrofittig bluetooth is not difficult, but you need the latest version of the Jaguar bluetooth module and a bluetooth antenna, which can be found used on the internet. The microphone I mentioned is not necessarly needed, in my case the original one fitted by Jaguar works perfectly fine.
If you search the forum, you will find threads about the conversion to bluetooth.
Best regards,
Thomas
