Default Help - can't pair bluetooth phone. Fixed

My 2006 came with the phone module which is supposed to be Bluetooth compatible.

I have never bothered pairing a phone, however, as I believe I have the right to be left alone while driving my Jag

I wanted to give it a try today and followed the instructions in the manual that came with the car. However, on pressing the 'phone' button, the display showed the word 'PHONE' and then 'NO PHONE'. The manual said I should be getting the word 'SIG', whereupon I was supposed to enter a code.

Basically, none of this happened. Any ideas?

Frog,

Have you already gone through 'Factory Telephone' thread describing setup and problems with bluetooth pairing?

It started when I couldn't get to 'SIG' on mine.

No, could you post a link to the thread, please?

Link to Bluetooth thread is:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...lephone-61074/

You can't immediately tell by looking at the car whether it has bluetooth fitted. The steering wheel has the phone controls and the audio headset is the same regardless. All the additional components are installed beneath the the cubby box liner in the centre console.

If you have the 'S' model, it definitely will have bluetooth as standard. On other UK 4.2 models, it was an option. The bluetooth manual in your literature pack suggests your car is fitted with bluetooth.

And yes, my XKR is a 4.2S, one of the very last to be built in August 2005.

I have added a note in my manual on a PostIt for future reference.

It's not exactly intuitive!

I had the battery disconnected and re-entered the radio security code thinking this would reset everything but it made no difference to the phone.

Eventually realised it wasn't accepting the full six character '##1#*#' phone discovery code and must already have some characters locked in.

so, do we add a "FIXED" to the title of this thread so that others can recognise instantly that there's a solution to this issue?
Please advise...

For a 2006 XK8 convertible that supposedly had Bluetooth installed at the factory, where is the microphone located?

Our car is scheduled to be delivered to our house on Saturday. I'm still researching it so I'll have a higher level of familiarity with it when it finally shows up....

Good idea. Just to repeat for the sake of clarity:

The solution is to press the C/TA button several times before pressing the phone button. This should bring up the SIG message, then just follow the manual's instructions.

The mic is a blob of plastic stuck to the headlining above your head next to the rear-view mirror.

Hi guys, I'm new here with XKR 4.2S 2005 and too have a problem pairing a phone. Get the "NO PHONE" sign every time I push the "phone" button. Tried to push "clear" (C/TA) button with no result, may be I'm pushing it in a wrong way? Tried to press and hold it, but....

Have you got the In-Car Telephone Handbook? There's a bit more involved in pairing a phone.

Good to see you here from Moscow. Don't forget to drop into the New Member section and post an Intro with some details about yourself and your car.

Yeah, I've already downloaded the handbook, since I've got none from the previous owner. But the mystery still remains.

Not all phones will pair with Jaguar Bluetooth. You can check phone compatability here:

Jaguar UK - Bluetooth Connectivity

No sense in knocking yourself out if your phone isn't on the list.

I did my homework and visited that site before posting. But the thing is I can't even get to the pairing stage. As soon as I press the "phone" to get to the SIG menu I receive "NO PHONE" in reply (ignition in pos. II) .

If the PO used the Bluetooth system and didn't disconnect the phone, it will try to detect that paired phone every time the ignition is switched on and report "No Phone".

This was the issue I had and entering the Disconnect Code ##3#*# didn't appear to do anything. The solution eventually was to clear the entries by repeatedly pressing the C/TA button like using the backspace key on a keyboard. (I think I pressed it 10 or 12 times to make sure). Once this was done it accepted the Discovery Code ##1#*#

Lets go very slow now. How exactly did you do that?
Ignition in "II"? Radio or CD mode? All I get by pressing C/TA just change in TA or TP.

I'm sure Jaguar deliberately made their Bluetooth setup as obscure as possible to drum up business for the dealers!

1. Ignition to II - you don't want the radio on when pairing
2. press the Phone button once (next to AM/FM button)
3. repeatedly press C/TA button to clear all previous button entries
4. enter Discovery Code ##1#*# using the radio keypad
5. SIG**** is displayed (it can take a minute to appear)
6. switch on phone (with Bluetooth activated) and search for devices using the phone menu
7. select Jaguar from the list and enter the passkey 1313
8. SIG* appears on the radio display to confirm pairing

Once paired, if your phone is switched on when you get in the car, it connects automatically.

Thank you for waisting your time on me. Really sorry for that.
Well, I did 1-3 and never got to 4. After I press "phone" and then press C/TA the system shows "no phone" and goes back to CD. The only change I see while continuing pressing C/TA is the change in TA / TP.
But I'll go and give it another try.

Anyone here have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus that they've been able to connect with? Just curious...

I failed again. The only way is go to the local jaguar dealer and see what they can do...
