Default Bluetooth and voice retrofit

Can anyone give me detailed instructions on how to install the most updated Bluetooth and voice control? It is a 2005 VDP with nav and cdc. Vin ends in G44039. It is not pre-wired for bluetooth.

Does your car have the original Jaguar installation with the phone in the armrest? If yes, a conversion to bluetooth is very easy.

Best regards,

Thomas

It says from vin G45171 onwards. Mine is G44039. Am I out of luck? Is there no retrofit for my vin?

Thanks

I have installed this:

It is not flawless but is works. Occasionally I have to restart it.
I have it for more than 2 years now.

Jaguar introduced bluetooth only in 2005 for the 2006MY (Model Year), and it seems that your car is still a 2005MY. The MYs are not equal to the calendar years, the switch from one MY to the next is normally in summertime or early fall in the year, after the summer vacations.

I assume that that is the reason why the instructions only start with G45171. It does not mean that it will be impossible to retrofit bluetooth to your car, only that is will be more of an effort. There will be no kit available, you will have to search for the compnents needed, and I do not know about what cabling will already be present in an earlier car, for example whether the cabling going to the overhead console already includes the cables for the microphone. You will need to research that.

The part no. of the most recent bluetooth phone module that goes into the side of the boot is 7W93-10D893-AB. It is the one that connects best with new mobile phones, and, as far as I remember, it does not need a so called BTUM module anymore, which helps.

I would suggest that you search the forum for bluetooth, there are multiple threads regarding the topic. Please be aware that the Jaguar bluetooth only works for making phone calls. If you are looking for a streaming possibility, as well, then you will neeed another solution, either something like Big Koshka suggested, or Jagdroid or similar, if you want to keep the original look of the car.

Coming to Jaguar Voice, I do not know how much of an effort it is to install (there were two option, btw: a 2 zone one, and a 4 zone one), but I don't think that it is worth the effort, as it is still pretty basic. You have to learn certain phrases to be able to used it. I have it in my car and don't use it at all.

Best regards,

Thomas
