I am considering buying a 2005 XJR. The photos I received show a car with a chrome grill trim, and I was always had the impression that all XJRs had the body colored grill trim? Am I correct? The car is 120 miles away, and I don't want to go that distance to see it if it may not be a real XJR.

We have occasionally read posts from guys who were putting chrome grill surrounds on their Rs. Don't be surprised if there is a chrome strip across the trunk ah la regular XJs. I sort of like the add'l chrome myself but never had the heart to screw with a good thing. Well I do have chrome mirror covers and a wire mesh lower grill.

 

It's not too uncommon to see grill trims switched out, although I have left mine stock. I have a 2004 XJR and "updated" the trunk trim with a chrome one off a XJ. I like the additional chrome on the back. A serial number for the seller or some pics of the engine should confirm that it's an XJR.
