Climate Control LED Strip Goes Out
I have a 2004 XJR with a problem climate control strip (led) just below the navigation screen. This is the screen that shows heat/air conditioning settings on the right and left side of the cabin and the temperature outside the car. When the ignition is first turned on it comes on for a few seconds then goes completely out. When the weather is really cold the same thing happens, but it stays on a few seconds longer. Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, did you figure out what the cause was?
Are the LCD readouts/numbers still showing up, just not green like you're used to?
If so, the 'green' illumination is created by a multiple number of small bulbs. They are easy to get to (at least in my XK8 they are, once you have the unit out of the car and on a table in front of you) Sounds like an intermittent short, not necessarily bad bulbs. Heck, maybe the connector is loose that leads to this 'display' since the controls are actually held and changed by the main unit?
