Coil-over conversion
From all my reading and this fine forum I knew one day I would get the dreaded Air Suspension Failure message so I started about 3 years ago researching my options. In the beginning coil-overs were not even an option in my mind. I thought either OEM in order to keeps the CATS system working or forfeit the CATS and do Arnott replacing struts because of the price difference. Now with 148,000 miles, and running strong, and both front air bags leaking I need to act. At first I thought of just replacing the front two bags but would always have in the back of my mind when is the rear bags going to give out not to mention the compressor, computer and ride height sensors $$$$$$$$$. I decided for peace of mind, reliability and my bank account I was going to do a cardinal sin and modify my Kitty. I eliminated the air suspension completely and installed coil-overs on all four wheels. For the price of one uninstalled OEM air strut I got the whole coil-over job done including labor. I looked at Arnott, Suncore and Strutmasters and went with StrutMasters. The people at Structmasters were great. I ordered the new struts on a Friday and to my surprise they were delivered that Sunday.
It's been three weeks now and I am overall happy with the ride. No more air suspension worries and I even got a thank you from my bank account. I now feel if you have over a 100k miles it is a no brainer.
