Default Difference in car styling taste

Roaming around on this forum and seeing the car pictures what strikes me most is the massive difference in style if you compare European and American Jaglovers.

I don't want to start WW3.. but i cant help to notice it.

US big chrome polished wheels, big exhausts, more bling.

European is more mellow, not too flashy.

I must admit that some of the US cars look special, but driving around like that here would for sure give some interesting reactions......

Just an observation

I sort of miss the big chrome grills and tail fins of the 50s. Cars had personality then (not to mention a big back seat perfect for making out with Betsy-Lou)...

Your opinion is ironic, given that at the time the X350 was produced, most of the American, German and Japanese competition had almost no chrome on it and the X350 had a ton!

Im not referring to the original Jaguar design.

Im referring to Jaguar owners who style/modified there cars themselves, chrome wheels you hardly see here at all... as a matter of fact i only see them on MTV.

Leaper's, big exhausts etc etc

There is a distinct difference in style there compared to here, not a negative thing again just an observation.

We British always used to like a bit of chrome, just look at Jaguars of the 60s.

Nowadays it would seem European fashion is to not have chrome on cars. The Rover 75 I had before my Jaguar was very close to a Mark 2 Jaguar with lots of chrome, even a bodyside strip like the Mark 2. I loved it !! Yet it was criticised by the motoring magazine reptiles for having too much.

I've always thought Jag chrome was about right for my taste. There is a trend, especially among the young, to add a good bit of bling - such as chrome wheels, finder surrounds, leapers, etc. This applies to the states. I have no ensite on other locals.

Hope this doesn't further incite WW lll. Some of these young folks are excitable.

I don't see many people on here modding their cars. And aren't most of our members Amurican?

To be honest I think you're pretty much bang on the money there, and something I've noticed myself.
It looks like, generally, we do have slightly different tastes but I guess thats too be expected.

Chrome / The Leaper in particular seem much more favoured in the US.
