Ok, origanl poster here. I guess we got away from the question at hand, has anyone done this? If so, any problems etc..
Ok, for all the other asking why. Because I want to thats why. This is my daily beat around in car. It's a mint condition car that id like to change a few things about.
I assume when all of you think 22 inch rims you think of some hood, ghetto junk. Thats not what im after at all.
Something euro looking in a 2 or 3 piece wheel that has a 3 or 4 inch mirror lip.
Im not in my 100's like most of you fellows out there, thats a joke... Im 29, I like to change things about my cars to make them mine.
If you dont like it, keep.on truckin and give your opinion to someone else.
Im here for tech info, not your approval
Anytime you mention big wheels on a car, you're automatically labeled as hood and ghetto, especially if you are Black or Latino. To that, I say that it's your car and you do whatever in the he!! you want to do with it.
But as for the ride: For sure, larger wheels will come with a harsher ride, especially if you have narrow, stiff sidewalls on the tire.
I think you are going to regret putting 22"s on the XJ, I would go for 20"s if I were you which will still be a bit rough... but 22s will be brutal. Hopefully you have good roads where you live. Whatever you do PLEASE post pics on this forum. Would love to see how they turn out

I guess I never thought of it as ghetto as the OP suggests. I view it as a youth thing, and not completely. I like a nice set of wheels too.
When I was young, cars were about HP, mag wheels and candy apple, metal flake paints. Back then that's what was cool.
As I aged, started a family and entered my minivan phase, along came leather bras (on cars), then ground effects lighting, neon interior lighting, those giant spoilers on little 4 cylinder cars with the cute little vroom vroom mufflers and a wee bit o Tokyo Drift.
All is amusing to me as mag wheels were to my Dad, but as you say, it's his car and he can do what he pleases.
Oh, not to mention sound systems, which have been ever evolving as I grow more deaf. Wood speakers were a common accessory on the rear shelf parcel in the 70's. Mock me all you want Dad, I wants my Led Zeppelin off my 8 track loud and clear.
Technically it will drive like the Flintstone mobile. And I'll still laugh when I see it, but still look forward to the pics
lol, this Jaguar family is fuuuunnny,I'm really on the fence with this rim thing, nice alloy 20's nice size tire,or 21's but tire size is odd and expensive(I like to drive a lot),or 22's that will be like ridding on rocks because you cant fit a decent size tire on the rim ??Im in the tide water area in Virginia, the streets here are superb lol they will build a entire community in 90 days here and name a new street like a pair of sneakers....with that said I guess thats why I dont mind big rims long as its done right.I have already had 20 inch rims before,I never went 22..
For some reason I thought 21's would look real getto, but those don't look that bad. They acually look pretty good! But will ride like a brick on any road. As mentioned earlier, stock 20's ride hard.
I'm in Jaguar heaven nice Xj on the 21's ,hows ride compared to 20's ?My car should be complete from getting full timing done, and some suspension parts. Can't wait...Thanks for the pictures...
When I was searching for my XJR, I knew that I wanted 20" Sepang wheels. In my opinion (for what little it is worth) they are the best looking Jag wheels by far. I wanted these so specifically, that I would pass on cars that didn't have them. That said, they are a whole lot of wheel and not a lot of tire. I would not change my decision (I still love these wheels), but I do think that the car would be a nicer (softer) ride on 18"s. I would never go larger than the stock 20"s.

I really like those wheels too, the XJR I just bought looks exactly like that car. Same color and all nice taste the Sepang wheels are sweet
I have had 19s, 20s, and 22s on my Jaguar XJR and I didn't have to cut anything. Fits and ride smooth, thanks to the air suspension. Here are some pics and I think it looks GREAT!!!!
I actually raised my jag up a lil when I first put my 20 inch rims cause the tire would rub a lil. After i put the 22s on , i just left it the same height. I could actually lower it a lil more if i wanted and it would still fit with the 22s. But since the suspension changes up automatically and also drops at higher speeds i decided to leave it slightly lifted for now.
To me. If the wheels are so big the car is raised, it looks horrible. I hate wheel gap. I did a lot of research before buying my setup. I have 20" wheels the same width all around. It rides just like the factory setup. I can only imagine a bigger wheel will be uncomfortable. All the nascar drivers say that 17" is the perfect wheel size to maximized performance.
