A couple of mine on the 21 inch Arden splits, personally don't think there is much difference in ride comfort vs the 20s that were originally on.

 

Caldoofy, what setup do you have for lowering your car? I like the stance!

Thanks OSK and Evan, I had a mobile company that normally lowers Range Rovers come out and do it when I first got the car some 4 1/2 years ago ( I found the standard ride height too high for my liking), they used the jag/range rover software to put false readings into the program making the car believe it was too high resetting itself to the lower height that you see. Only negative was that the full geometry needed resetting as it was a country mile out after the lowering was done. Once all reset it's now better than original I think.

 

I love the stance, caldoofy. What exactly had to be reset with the geometry after dropping it that low?

 

And don't you have rubbing issues inside the arches (what are the tyres specs?), and especially when the car further lowers itself above 160 kms/h?

 

Basically the camber was miles out and also caster ( but adjusted in no probs ).

Tyres are 295 25 21s on the rear with a 10.5 inch wide wheel et50 and the fronts 255/35 21 et35. No rubbing issues at all but had to partially remove inner rear wheel arch and a fixing stud to give clearance.

 

Just put these Rosso 22's on my XJ. Have had the car for a week and love it.

Thanks - I love your car, Caldoofy, and will copy your front brake setup. Can you confirm that the front hubs are the same on my car as yours? Mine isn't an R, but has dual piston calipers. From the looks of the XFR calipers (2010), they seem to have longer mounting brackets for the larger rotors, but you may be the only one who's done this mod.

Wheels are Rosso 22x8.5 ET40 with 245/30/22 Nankang NS20. It still rides pretty good, given low profile tires and lower calibration of the air suspension.

In my personal opinion, 21" is the max size for the X350, my old Ardens which Caldoofy has are at the upper limit for me. 20 and 19" I have found great alrounders. Just fitted a set of Arden Sportlines in 19 to mine and they look great imo.

 

 

 

 

I have to admit I don't understand the style issue at all. Why even bother to have an inflatable tire at all? Ages ago, trucks used to have very thin solid rubber tires on large wheels. Is that the ultimate configuration for Jaguars? I must be an old fogey - I like a comfortable ride.

Just my personal taste but I also find the 22" with that thin rubber bands and tiny discs awful.
As alecescolme says, I think that 21" are the max to go.
The setup of caldoofy is nice because he has put bigger rotors and the design of the Arden rims gives an impression of smaller empty space inside.
Sometimes I think that my 20"s are already too big... but 22"s for sure.
Anyway each one his own taste
