Driver's seat glitch

Hi
my driver's seat has acquired a gremlin. It's set on memory 1, no problem, and, when I stop the engine, the wheel tilts up and the seat slides back as it should. However, when I get back in and put the key in the dash the seat doesn't move and the wheel moves to a new position, which is right up hard against the dash and as low as it will go. I then have to press the memory button, whereupon it returns to the position I want it to be for driving.
It's not a huge problem, more of a niggle but wondered if I'm doing something wrong?
Btw all seat motors work no problem. Thanks!

Put it where you want it, then disconnect the battery.
When you reconnect it, there is no memory for the seat.
Just leave things alone, your seat motors will last a lot longer.

When I had my seat set to move back, I found that it was too far back to get out comfortably; it was practically next to the door frame.I manually move the wheel up now, and leave the seat alone.

My recollection of the return to position after it moved back is that it went back to wherever it came from, whether that was memory 1 or 2, but it's been a long time since I had the auto-move enabled.

There is no need to disconnect the battery. Just place the steering wheel / pedals adjustment knob in either wheel or pedals adjustment position. The seat and wheel and pedals will not move when the key is removed.
