Default '97 VDP drivers' seat issue

Hopefully this will be an easy fix. The only thing that does not function as it should in the car is this: when I open the drivers' door or pull out the key the steering wheel retracts and rises, and the seat moves back. When I put the key back in the wheel returns to its' pre-set position but the seat does not return. Also there is no cheery chirp from the memory switch when the button is depressed. Not a burning issue in the fullness of things since the seat does return to the pre-set position if I adjust it with the seat switch, but I would really like, since it is so close to all things right and proper, to get it to 100% perfect. Any thoughts and/or recommendations ? All input gratefully received.

It sounds to me like the fore/aft seat motor potentiometer is not working properly. There may be other seat movements that no longer have memory positions as well. There are threads on here for seats and seat memory issues. Just type in the search function.
