Sure it is. Most are used that way. All my daily drivers have been Jags for years now.

I presume, since you posted in the XJ8 section, that you'll be looking at a new-ish car. That's good. With more specific info others here can let you know of certain things to be aware of.

Since we're talking about a high-end luxury car it reasonable to expect that it won't be as cheap to own as an ordinary car but, hey, that's the breaks....and it certainly doesn't prevent using the car for daily transportation.

If your talking about an old XJ-70s-80s-90s vintage then its likely to need a fair bit of work to bring it up to snuff, just as any older car would.

Cheers

Just bought an 04' 40,000 miles as my daily driver... We shall see. I am not worried as I could not find much negative on the 04 and newer xj8. I put 40,000 miles on per year and do my own maintenance so I am NOT worried at all. Have had Mercedes before and was not disappointed. Took them both over 250,000 miles. I am confident the Jag will, at the least, be as good as the Merc. Likely better!

Get her a Toyota, keep the Jag for yourself. I drive mine every day, forty minute commute to work.

I've had an XJ as my regular transport since December 03. Great cars. Whoever ends up driving it won't regret it and it it's pretty nice place to be passenger as well. I think you would both have fun no matter who drives.

Sounds like you did pretty well on the price and that is one of the best colors for the XJ8. When I was looking, that was one of onlythree colors that captivated me; Blue (which is what I own) & white were the other two.

I went to www.aaautowarranty.comand got their premier plan. I have not used it yet and am nervous doing so. Not sure why I should be, but I always think there's going to be fine print and hassles...

Congratulations. Price seems fair to me. I will add that you chose the perfect color (my car is Radiance as well). Now the trick is talking your wife into driving so you can sit in the back and watch movies. I still haven't managed that trick in the two months I've had my Super V8. What color is your interior? What other options did you get?

AsI understand things, you can't get the Select Edition warranty (Jaguar's certified program). Jaguar does have another program you can look into. My guess would be around $4,000, but it depends on length of coverage and deductible. You also have to pay for an "inspection". It is onlyavailable up to the end of the4/50 standard warranty. I assume you're well short of that, based on the mileage. It's called the jaguar Extra Mile program. Includes some things like roadside assitance as well as mechanical breakdown coverage. I didn't buy it for my previous car (04 XJ8) when my warranty ended. Again, have fun with the new car.

Missing floor mats and Nav DVD disk(disappointed)but for the price i decided not to push it. Just happy to be a Jag Owner.

In the unlikely event you should need to rely on your warranty coverage, please be a pal and post your assessment of your carrier's reactions. References are valuable to many of us, be they good or bad. Thanks and happy motoring!

Well I use mine as a daily driver, no good leaving such a car in the garage. And they have proven to be very reliable, right at the top with Lexus.

Still deciding on warranty company, Motorclub VS AAA Warranty. JagtechOhio, I'm buying from Elyria Motorcars up there, ever heard of them. Another question came to mind, since I have factory coverage until Dec. should I wait and get warranty later in year?
