Default Flood beauties

For those of you who are thinking about buying a newer car, be it a Jaguar or other brand, keep in mind that we have had many, many floods through out the country this past year and there have been thousands or maybe millions of cars that were ruined in these floods and believe it or not, there are those who buy these cars from the insurance companies, clean them up and put them on the market for un-knowing buyers.

After a few months these cars will start to rot from the inside out and especially the electronics will began to fail. The only way to insure your buying a "clean" car, is to have it inspected by an independent inspection place or person---and for Gods sake, not the person your buying it from. This in some cases may be hard to do, but in a less then perfect way, you can do it yourself.

Just be aware of the come on's you will get when it comes to these cars. Most States will not issue a clean title once an insurance company owns it, but not all. Alabama comes to mind and there are others. Just be aware.

Good luck.

Thanks Chuck and I agree with your comments but also question insurance companies selling to independents who clean up the vehicles and return them to market.

If they total the car, does the title not become salvage and then rebuilt?

Sorry, don't know enough about insurance/ title law myself.

Sean----"don't know enough about insurance"

Same here Sean, I don't know for sure, but I do know that some states will issue a clean title regardless---as I said; Alabama comes to mind and there are others.

Everyone: What about your state?

Cheers
