I found that the bulb housings on my fog lamps have melted and allowed the construction to sort of break off, presumably because over time they got hot enough from the bulb to melt the plastic. Has anyone else experienced this?

 

I checked a pair of old ones off my 2004 VDP and the plastic is perfect. Maybe somebody put the wrong bulb in or ???. I changed the fog lamps because the lenses were damaged.
