Default Front end metal clicking noise when parking

I've read a thread about front end thunks, which I have not experienced. I have a metal clicking noise on my 04 XJR that I notice when I turn from my side street into my driveway, and then as I pull forward up the driveway and then turn into the garage. It sounds like it's related to the front wheels turning. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Thanks

I had this and it turned out to be a real pain to diagnose for the dealer, in the end I swapped dealer and it was fixed in an hour. Fortunately it was a simple fix...

I believe it is the brakes, when you turned into side streets or turned into car park spaces etc you heard a clunk. To confirm if it is the same thing, left foot break and drive at slow speed (10 mph will do) and turn the wheel from left to right, then do it again with out your foot on the break, if you hear the noise when you are on the brakes then it sounds like the same thing.

To fix it they cleaned the breaks and applied a liberal amount of copper grease to the callipers. The only caution I would say is that my vehicle is an 06 XJR and therefore has high performance brakes and yours is an 04 XJR and will have Brembo brakes so might be difference. Worth checking all the same.

Thanks PM, I was thinking brakes or wheel bearing.

I think the clicking noise is a couple loose lug nut cap covers that I notice making noise at a slow speed. These covers are a crap design, what's wrong with a total chromed lug nut anyway. I guess I'll have to replace them to see.
