Funny Noise in Front End??
Before I dive in.....Drivers side. Sounds like muffled banging. A few months back I had a squeak and at times it seems as though my car suspension would bind in the up position...Now I took a quick look and noticed the boot from my upper control arm was shot but that's likely totally irrelevant. My strusts were replaced with arnotts about two years ago and I just have a feeling its the strut. Generally a sway bar bushing would make a heck of a lot more noise. End links are new
So muffled banging around and suspension binding?
Any guesses before I really dig in?
Thanks!

I was starting to get a similar muffled banging from my remanned front shocks. I ended up do the coilover conversion and everything is cool now.
The upper control arm balljoint could be the cause of the squeaking.

hmm squeeking went away.....I hate when noises go away...But now its that rumbling...I think ill send it over to my buddied shop to get it on a lift so he can move things around. Id be really upset if it was the strut. Right before I bought the car the owner had changed both front struts with Arnotts only to find it was a leak in the line and not a strut itself...Always something I suppose!
doesn't change...Basically its when hitting bumps. What makes me think its a strut is that on occasion it would get stuck at a slightly higher position then drop on the one side. Hard to explain. But car seems to go around curves and drive fine...Which gets me
I would check the sway bar bushes. I was getting various clunks on sudden bumps but not on curves or general driving. You can pull the sway link off one size and try moving it up and down and see if you hear any play on the sway bar, or go for a short drive. Mine only had 3 or 4 mm play but that is enough to crush a think as the bar torques on bumps.
They are only about $30 each, and "can" be changed in 2--3 hours, but it's very testing on tools, extensions and patience. Just 4 13mm bolts, hidden.
