GPS conversion
Hello,
I have a 2004 jaguar XJ8 without GPS.
I'm wondering can I purchase all parts needed to convert over to GPS style dash - is it just a matter of getting all and there are plugs to plug into?

None of the necessary wiring will be present; the old days of including wiring for optional items in harnesses, and it leaving it unconnected, are long gone.
Also, the latest discs for the GPS are 2012.
If you really need GPS you're much better off with an up-to-date add-on unit IMHO. I have the installed GPS on mine but if I seriously need to use GPS I use a Tom-Tom on top of the dash:
- partly because the installed screen is too low on the dash and too far away from the driving line-of-sight,
- partly because compared to a more modern GPS unit the Jag planning algorithms can come up with very odd routes (ie complicated, not sensible), and
- partly because the road data is out-of-date anyway.
