Headlight assembly

Both my headlights went out....any advice on low beam headlight ballasts? Can ballast be replaced or does entire assembly need replaced? Dealer quoted me $3400 to replace both assembly's on 2004 xj8. Thanks, Dave

Whats the last 6 of your vin?i have 1 good ballast but theres vin splits and parts are differant. Yes theyre not avail without the headlight assembly
