How To Search The Powertrain Manual?
How do you search the X350 manuals? As you know the powertrain manual is over 3500 pages, I can use the "find in document" and search for one word; but the number of hits is too large to find a specific procedure. Things are further complicated by all of the different engines being listed.
Thanks & best,

The version I've downloaded treats the table of contents and the various sections as separate PDF files, and I'm guessing that's what you're working with. Here's how I go about it:
First: Open up the "Table of Contents" section/file in whatever PDF reader you use, search for the section/assembly/item you're wanting to address, then copy the section identifier (example: "Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor - 4.2L SC V8 - AJV8 (18.30.10)"), in this case, "18.30.10"...
Then: Open up the pertinent section/file, in this example, volume 3, "Drivetrain". Now use the search function of your PDF reader or browser to search for the specific/copied section identifier. The browser or PDF reader will show you the number of instances of that item, then work through those to find the specific item.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Paul

I arbitrarily picked something easy to use as a test.
Wiper arm removal:
1. Searched table of contents for "wiper".
2. There were 7 hits.
3. Found the number eighty point something that indicated removal & searched for that number & the procedure came up.
So far, I have found the "Advanced Search" feature to be the most useful tool of all. This way, I can go straight to the 350/358 responses.
Some of the very useful sounding links in some threads no longer work & you get a 404 error message.
Thanks again, Paul for your help.
