Default I need a new AC compressor,,, Unfortunately

Hey Folks,

My 2004 Vanden Plas needs a new AC compressor. It does not have the rear climate control option. I was looking on ebay and other websites for re-manufactured parts but some of the AC compressors online do not state wether they have the rear or W/O rear climate control. I was wondering if there is a part number so I can distinguish between the two of them. I found on ROCKAUTO.com a remanufactured part #157375 but it doesn't say if it is with or without the rear climate control. Please help.

Also it says it is recommended to change the condenser and I don't know if it is necessary or just a marketing thing from the website.

Please help with any input and thanks in advance

Sam

I would recommend giving Arizona Mobile Air a call, they can help you with a very high quality replacement: 2004 » Jaguar » XJ8 » V8 4.2L 4196cc | ACKITS.com
I've used them for all my a/c projects, never been disappointed in their service or quality of the parts they sell.

You only need to replace the condenser if the system is full of debris. The condenser can't be flushed because of its design. The hoses and evaporator can be flushed, however you'd have to remove the TXV to flush the evap correctly.

If you have no contamination in the system, I would suggest replacing the receiver/dryer (or just the desiccant if that's available). This is the part that absorbs moisture from the system.

Other than that, replace the compressor, evacuate, and recharge to spec.

I'm curious to know what happened to your current AC compressor.
Mine is not pulling as it used too but I'm going to attempt the control valve first on the compressor itself. Sadly I've been busy rebuilding the suspension components.

I bought the valve below:

I'm hoping it's worth a shot.

If you open the system to replace the compressor, I would replace the receiver/dryer. The receiver/dryer's are cheap and easy to replace. Even when you vac down the system, its hard to get all the moisture out of the old dryer.

For sure at a minimum receiver/dryer.

Go to RockAuto $13. Just ordered one, four seasons brands come with new plug and extra O rings.

One last thing folks I don't know if the part that I found is With or Without rear climate control, my vehicle does not have the rear climate control option.

I have found this @ RockAuto a Re manufactured AC compressor

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...ompressor,6628

Can anyone tell me if this is the right part?
