in simple terms, the coil requires a specific voltage/amps to operate efficiently, adding lighting to the same circuit would draw a significant amount of power from that circuit. You might start to receive high voltage/amp error codes as the ecm does not know there are lights on the same circuit. Much safer to connect to the lighting circuit. I would first check if that modification is legal, just because others are doing it don't make it legal....

Hi milhunkcj,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums!

I agree with reyesl. You do not want to add additional load to your engine ignition system.

You can download the 2004 X350 Electrical Guide at the link below to help you find the power source(s) you will need:

http://www.jagrepair.com/images/Elec...al%20Guide.pdf

Because the X350's electrical systems are so complex and sensitive to variations in resistance, voltage and current, it might be safest to power your running lights directly from the battery. There are a few places in the engine bay where you can access battery power. Then use an isolation relay to control the running lamps via an ignition-switched circuit, and add an inline fuse of appropriate amperage to protect everything from a potentially disastrous short.

Hopefully others will chime in with additional thoughts.

Also, I note that you've made 10 posts to the forum but have not yet visited the https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...-intro-must-5/ to post an introduction. Please post an intro so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.

Cheers,

Don
