I have a 2004 VDP, the remotes stopped working a few days ago. I had not driven it in about 4 days, and it was sitting outside in the rain during that time.


I have one remote that is like new, stays in the house. I have recently changed the battery in my daily used remote and cleaned all the switches inside also.


None of the functions on either remote will work on the car now. The electric locks do work fine when I put the key in the door. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There is a radio receiver/controller that resides somewhere in the car. I am afraid yours has probably gone bad.

I had this happen a little over a year ago, neither remote would work. After about three months they both miraculously started working again. No hiccup in almost a year.

 

Well, i tried a manual programming of my remotes today - it worked perfectly. Took less than 1 minute to do.

I posted this question on that page too, but incase not everyone reads it -- why do you think the car lost the info on the two key fobs? Could it be the signs of a bad battery?
