Like I said in the other forum, praise the sacrificial Porsche-James dean didn't fare as well in a similar car/wreck. A good lesson on vincibility.

Wow, it's kinda funny how we all assumed you were ok. I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Don't take it too personal. We all just wanted to give you an *** whooping!

By the way, I am confused. Do you still have a Jag?

I'm glad you are OK, I was in a wreck last June in my Mustang. I wish I had airbags because the seat belt did a number on my shoulder. I was driving (the speed limit) on a country road and an oncoming vehicle decided to race a left turn. We collided head on and I got a nice ambulance ride. The other driver was charged with careless driving causing bodily harm. Name: car8.jpg

That was horrible , glad you were fine . Your photo reminded me of how tough Audi is , we saw 2 mammoth crashes from reckless Ferrari drivers and thankfully both Audi drivers were OK

Insurance is going to be a mother*** for you for a while!

Geez... My next car is going to be a sportscar after the VDP! I was hot for a Boxster for a while, but ended up buying an S2000 over the Boxster S. My next car I am eyeing the Maserati GT Coupe.

Alan,

Didn't I see herein that JagMaster was in No VA and planning to visit with you? If this is true, we are counting on you.

ask the insurance company how much it will cost to buy the car back. you could double your money by holding title when the car auctions. That is exactly what the insurance company will do... they'll like say your car is worth 2k and it will auction for 5k. Assuming you have a lean, the challenge is you must pony up the cash to free the lean before the insurance pays the claim. Good luck. What year and how many miles are on the car?

On a totaled Elise they offered me the car at what they expected to get at auction, they arrived at this figure by getting pre-auction bids from certain buyers. Their actual auction sold price was within 10 % of that figure.
Also do not forget , it does not matter who is holding the title with regard to the fact from that time on it will always be branded.

The market for junked exotics is narrowly controlled. For others, there is more latitude and the insurance adjuster will use an application from copart comparing images of vehicles with front end damage and they pick door #1,2 or 3. They'll give the insured that figure for repurchasing the vehicle. The point I was making about holding title, is you can't use the insurance coliision coverage for loan payoff and also take the vehicle to auction yourself. In either case, the title will be salvage branded at best. here is a Boxster in LA waiting for the lean release whose loan was paid by Farmers..

It's worth exploring his options and getting a pulse on the market. The delta gain could pay his insurance premiums for the next year...
or, the delta will cover part of the casualty companies loss. There will likely be a larger delta than 10%.
