Media Connectivity issues
When I bought my 2004 XJ8 last year I had the dealer install the media connectivity module so I could listen to my Ipod. This has worked passably well until now. A couple of weeks ago the unit would only select the CDC regardless of what postion the selector switch was in. I took the car to the dealer and they just diconnected the battery and reconnected it. This worked for four days. Now the unit won't select the CDC or the IPOD regardless of what I do. I've also noticed that the audio on the Sat Nav does not work anymore. Has anyone else had these issues? If so is there a fix?
My very dumb suggestion would be to check for water leaks in the trunk and around the center console.
Try pressing menu+phone for a few seconds, then type 917 for PIN and select "self test" - it is unlikely it would discover any failures but it's worth a try. Also try "system info" and see if it says "CDC fitted" - may be it does not recognize that you have a CD changer.

When I bought my '06 XJR, I read about alot of different issues with that module. It seems like Jaguar threw this in as an afterthought without fully testing it out. Sad really.
I decided to go with an aftermarket unit from Harman/Kardon. It's called the Drive + Play. It has its own display screen and controller, so you can stash your Ipod away in the glove box, center armrest....wherever. I chose the glovebox for the 12v outlet already installed inside. I did a temp install to test it out, no problems. Starting the full install today. My R has the sat. radio installed, but it doesn't work here in Hawaii. So I ordered an ashtray assembly to replace it.
This unit works 3 different ways. It has its own wireless FM transmitter, a set of aux outputs, or a wired FM x-mitter using a 3/32" plug. I used the latter by using an adapter plug for the wired x-mitter for the sat. radio. Works great, good sound quality (at least as good as an FM station.) I'll post pics when the install is done.
Sorry for partially 'jacking' your thread, but if your looking at other options, I figured this might be the way to go.
