Multiple warning lights after replacing thermostat housing
Help! I just changed my thermostat housing on my 2005 Vanden Plas, which entailed unpluging wire harnesses, disconnecting various hoses, removing the throttle body, etc. Now that everything is reconnected, I'm getting a check engine light, brake warning light and very little acceleration when I press down on the gas pedal. One thing I never did when I started the work was to disconnect the battery. Does anybody know what I can do to correct these problems? Also, I noticed the engine revved up slightly after starting the car. Does the throttle body need resetting. I saw references to that elsewhere on this site. If so, how do you reset the throttle body on the x350? Thanks very much.

I found the problem that had generated the P2135 code and the problems I described when I posted this "help" message. The smaller electrical plug housing that plugs into the back area of on the throttle body housing was brittle from engine heat and had cracked in a couple of places. A temporary tape job fixed the problems. Wish there was a way to buy the right size plug and splice it onto the wires.
I went through the same thing last summer. I replaced the water outlet assembly which came with the wrong thermostat (160F). Reason I did the entire assembly was the fact the brass grommets on the water outlet only spun when I tried to remove the thermostat housing. Luckily the 180F 'stat was relatively new and I used it to complete the job. So proud of myself. Then I got all the warning lights, rough idling, etc you mention. That one electrical connection you found hides easily and I missed it. I'd be glad to help if you want to send me a pic or maybe go to a salvage yard and clip one off a DOA XJ-8. One temporary but stable fix is to use liquid tape. About four thin coats should do it, I use Gardner-Bender because that's what I've always used. Others like Star-brite should be just as good.
Thanks so much, but through further checking on this site, I found that the Motorcraft WPT-1269 wire connector is the exact replacement for this one on my 2005 Jaguar VDP. It makes sense that there would be an exact replacement with a Motorcraft part since they make Ford parts and Ford owned Jaguar at that time. But, thanks for the offer to help!. Much appreciated.
Excellent! I went to my local Ford dealer for some 'U' clips that are use on the heater hoses. Lady behind the counter said something to the effect 'this is a Ford dealer we don't deal in Jaguar parts'. And she's right of course. Tried to explain the correlation between FoMoCo and Jaguar for my 2004 but she wasn't buying it.
Great find. Think I'll research the FoMoCo/Jaguar connection (no pun meant) and see what I can see.
