Isn't that odd! So, instead of four (4) channels to work with, I had six (6). The AudioControl LC7i accepts six (channels) and allows you to sum all six, four, or none at all into the MAIN channel 1, giving me my four (4) inputs I wanted into the DEQ.8...plus, the LC7i it allowed me to 'catch' and correct the system's higher volume bass drop-off. I don't know if it only applied to the subwoofer, but I had a suspicion it also dipped the low-end in all the door midbass speakers.

Since the radio and/or amp will 'steal' some bass to save those small speakers as the volume rises, I might get better response and sound by not using the dedicated subwoofer leads. To do this, all I have to do is check a couple boxes in the signal processor's ROUTING screen.
Thank you for all this great info! I really appreciate it, and I'm sure others will find it very helpful too!

So, 6 inputs into the LC7i, and the two sub inputs into the DSP directly? Does that mean you don't use the sub output of the LC7i at all?

Thanks again!

Thanks Nash! I'm very happy with the results.

BTW, I've passed along all of my OEM door speakers to other members.

Hello H20 boy,
I'm looking at doing a similar but cheaper set up.
I wanted to seek advice. I see you opted for the LC7i. I have been reading positive reviews on a similar item called the Adison bit ten and wanted to get your thoughts or if there other brands I can look at as well.
Thanks in advance!

I used the LC7i only for the channel summing and the Acubass features. The heart of the system was the Precision Power DEQ.8. The PPI DEQ.8, Soundstream Synthesis, and Audison bit ten are all in the same "category" of digital signal processors. PPI and Soundstream discontinued those products mentioned above which were possible of using 8 separate channels IN, their replacement processors ( DSP-88R and Harmony, respectively) only has 4 channels IN, and added an AUX IN which can be quickly switched to as a source using the goofy, large remote. It has it's benefits, but the original DEQ.8 and Synthesis appear to me to be more customizable and i believe easier to setup/adjust/tune. I looked at the Bit Ten, but geez...that thing is pricey. I found the DEQ.8 at Thunder Audio at the best online price.

Have you opted for anything yet? Any more questions I can help you with?

Thanks H20!
I was hoping to kill 2 birds with the bit ten. But I think you're set up seems to be more versatile. I'll put the system together in about a month. Gonna use my part of my tax refund.

I'm now also checking out the LC8-I with it's 8 inputs and aux input (possible IPOD fitment). I noticed you routed your inputs sans subwoofers to the LC7-I. What are your thoughts of me routing all 8 inputs from the stock amp including the sub inputs into the LC8-I?
Thanks again! You're the Bomb Diggity!

Check out the Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.3 I believe it does all of what you need. I've been shopping around for one and found one for about $450, which is still way more than I WANT to spend, but I might pull the trigger eventually.

My thoughts...you woud lose the ablity to adjust output gains from inside the car, but more importantly, no EQ adjustment which is crucial, especially when you sum channels together for a single output.

I lost my faith in RF after replacing my 360.2 three times over 7 years in my xk8. It too was replaced with the DEQ.8.

Sorry for bringing this thread back from the grave, I wanted to say congrats on what looks to be one of the few x350 audio builds ive seen here. Car audio is very much a part of my life, I have already started collecting equipment for my build.

Thanks for the motivation to do a build thread!!!

I just completed my system and another member mentioned I check out your build. WOW!! very impressive install my friend. To me the JL W6 is the cleanest sounding woofer on the market. I have JL shallows in my setup

Sorry again to bring this thread from the grave...

How deep are the original alpine door speakers? What is the safest maximum depth that you can install a speaker in the doors? Also, what is their impedance?

I have the "standard" basic audio system and I already have a sub but I am looking at improving the front stage. Where did you get the signal for the front speakers? Finally, is there an easy way to wire the tweeters in a component set to the "dash" speakers? Mine are obviously empty and I didn't see any holes or wires inside the speaker grill

BTW; I will send a PM as well to get your attention considering the age of the thread.

I have the X350 with the non touch screen head unit (yeah the prehistoric type lol)

I thought when I was doing the speaker upgrade that it didn't have component speakers but it did it has tweeters in the door handle and midrange tweeters on the dash

I only just found out it's got a tiny amp as well as it recently died lol

I replaced the door speakers with 2 ohm units coaxial and recently fitted a modern Bluetooth using a Bluetooth from a Xtype using the original microphone from the telephone that was in the console I'm happy with that I'd like to do some bass engines again but can't justify the cost and complexity

I fitted an incredible sound system to my first Jag a 92 SOV 3 amps big speakers and a huge sub in the boot
The following Jag a 96 XJR6 I upgraded to a Alpine mechless head unit and 6 channel amplifier using JL coaxial in the doors and alpine bass engines under the front seats with the X350 I bought in 2012 no one had done a sound system here in Australia and no one would touch it so over the years I've just done the minimum the 2 ohm coaxial made a difference that's the ones I bought they fitted no problems the size might help you with what your asking
https://www.cdtaudio.com/coaxials/cox622.php

I'd like to do the bass engines again but I hardly drive the car these days and it seems to be in the shop most of the time lol

Doc,

If you don't mind me asking; what audio system does your car have? Is it the "base" 8 speaker model (only speakers in the doors; nothing in the dash)? Can you measure the old stock speaker impedance? Can the stock head unit handle 2 OHM speakers fine even at high volumes?

My cars in the shop ATM been there since Christmas (don't ask)

I wasn't sure if the 2 ohm speakers destroyed the amp as I had to replace it but don't think so.

I have sensitive hearing and as I didn't know it had an amp thought it was just the head unit and that there where plenty for sale on eBay and the like thought of it melts the head unit so be it lol

The amp had been cutting out before I'd put the 2ohm speakers in it t

The 2 ohm speakers probbaly sped up the amps death lol

I did find with those speakers the sound quality over the originals was fantastic and I didn't need to drive it as hard

I installed a genuine Ipod adapter which went in place of the original stacker when I first bought the car then the speaker's I was pretty happy with that but wanted to use my Spotify account so put the Bluetooth adapter from a late Xtype into it to play Spotify

So far I've been able to update the original stuff fairly easy thanks to the guys on the forums

I dearly would have loved to update the XJ8 to some modern stuff but after doing that in my wife's jeep and spending close to 5 grand thought about doing the XJ but no one wanted to touch it and I'm to old to be crawling around

The trick is to find efficient speakers most car speakers are not very efficient I don't know why the 2 ohm units where if I remember 91 or 92 db one watt one metre

I just bought some cerwin Vegas from Sonic electronix for my partner's Citroen they're not as clear as the CME I bought for the Jag

I bought the cheap ones after all it's her car lol

They where the only speakers I could find with high db rating the more sensitive the less power they'll need to drive them.
The best home hifi speakers they're super sensitive and only need small amps to drive them

Cerwin Vegas 6.5 if the Aussie dollar wasn't so poor against the USD I'd have bought these ones to try so far the ones I bought for the Citroen without an amp sound pretty good and pretty loud and they're 4 ohm
