Sad to see such a nice one lost.

For those of you who own a X350 or X358 in the USA. I suggest you insure you car with Hagerty. You can do a agreed value for your car, and if this type of damage were to happen, the car may not get totaled. I have my X358 insured for $27,000 and only costs me little over $700 per year. The only rules, is the must be in a lockable garage, and can not be driven for work.

My 2003 3.5L V8 is with my stepson now.
Five years ago an 18YO driver ran into the side of the car, luckily at very low speed.
The "agreed value" insurance for my 3 Jags at the time was expensive but with a company servicing mostly classic cars dear to the heart of the owner.
The car needed a new second hand RHS front wing, both RHS doors panel beaten to remove shallow scrapes and that lot painted.
I had it done by the closest top quality workshop that mainly deals with MB warranty and crashes.
They did a perfect job with colour match, no evidence of a fix, and the insurance company just paid no questions asked.
My guess is it would have been about $5000.

I see you report $13k for parts alone. If you could get your hands on a rear ended car then you should get all the parts needed for a front end fix at a much better price. Assuming the fix is mostly just replacing bolt on items and a repaint I think that a total of $10k -$15k might cover it.
Main trouble is to find the rear ended car. Not sure if any database is maintained which can give you info to find it.
Next trouble is how much the insurance will pay out, and if you do write the car off, how much to pay for a good replacement.

I bought a 3YO XF Portfolio with only 4,000 miles on the clock to replace my X350, at a very good price. Even so when my stepson lets me drive HIS X350 I kind of regret parting with it, it is a really nice car to drive and still looks much more expensive than it is.

Not driven for work daily or ever? Do they need your employer's address?

I will know a lot more tomorrow they're coming to appraise it and we'll see where it goes from there

viper,

word from the insurance ?
i have seen a x350 (black) and fully intact for your parts.
also bought some parts (local ebay seller) here in dallas and know he has.. i believe he said 28 in his salvage yard.. saw them myself on monday when i picked a few parts.
THIS CAN BE FIXED...properly.

if it's helpful,

max

That car would be a total loss to be sure as it wouldn't take much at all to total these aluminum bodied Jaguars with the plastic bumpers. Actually, I would just park the car in the front yard, put a for sale sign on it and simply sell the car as is.

My black XJR is sold and going to a good home to be brought back to its original condition! I bought it back from the insurance company I just couldn't bear the thought of seeing it go to a junkyard
