I am doing a paint job on a 04 XJ8 and cant quite figure out how to get the outside door handles off. Looks like there is a bolt that comes in from the outside but I would have to take the handle out to get to it Any ideas?

Never mind I got them. Had to bend up a screw driver but I can get them out without taking the door panel off.

 

Hard to explain... I popped the small end cap off the door, pulled back and out on the rear of the handle to unhook it from the inside then took a pocket screw driver and bent it to almost a 90. Then at rh part of the handle that hinges there is lever inside the door you take the screw driver and run it under the handle into the hole of the door. push the lever open then keep Pulling the handle open and back till you work it completely out. Once I got to the last door I had it out in about 45 seconds.

But now I am assuming I have to take the door panels off the front doors anyway to take the mirrors off Oh well
