Hello everyone.
Registered today as feeling guilty, as i have used forum for past 3 years with my sadly missed x308 and now my new baby girl x350 .
Recent visit was due to getting 'gearbox fault' warning light and car going into limp mode.
Rang my local mechanic and told him i had seen forum posts like this saying it was cured by fitting a new battery.
He obviously scoffed at this but has just now has returned my baby girl saying it was indeed a voltage problem and could be caused by poor battery.
Think that is one nil to you guys.
Will sort out how i can get pics of my girl posted on my personal page and hope to build a great relationship with fold far more gifted in mechanical knowledge than this Arsenal loving cockney speaking midlands living dad of 4 who apparently has reached the age where his kids dont say a jaguar is an old mans car!!!!!!!!!
Regards,
John Duffy

I know the worst thing to probably say to a mechanic is, "I read on the Jaguar Forum that..." but, this site has given me at least the baseline knowledge of a problem before taking my car in for service, so that I can ask the right questions and understand why he's replacing the auxiliary pump before ripping out the heater core.

Good on you for checking out the simple things first. The XJ is indeed a power greedy auto. I shudder to think what will become of these models when the earth points really become loose and decrepit.
