Funny you two should say that. While I was in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for the summer, Jaguars were definately more prevalent than other cities I'd been to. Now here in south GA, I find myself scouring Florida Craigslist ads for Jaguars all too frequently, as they have a decent amount down there. The only other place I've seen so many was when I lived in California.

It's interesting to see how various car models are more or less popular in different regions. I've never seen so many Pontiac G8's as when I'm in Georgia.

 

I was in Atlanta over the Christmas holiday and I counted 12 X350/358 models the very first day I was in town.

 

I'd never seen so many Maseratis and Bentleys before relocating my office to San Gabriel Valley (aka L.A.'s 'other' Chinatown)

Now..about a month ago, a spankin' new Maserati AND a Ferrari dealership opened near my house...BUT no Jaguar, what does that tells you!? The old Jag dealership closed in 2009 and never came back, today the location is taken over by Ford...IRONIC, huh?! The nearest Jag dealer is 20 mi away in Santa Monica and Cerritos. My guess is that Jaguar felt unable to compete with the GARGANTUAN glut of German dealerships in my area so they copped out, and yet they're aiming the new XE, XF, F-Pace at the Germans. It just boggles the mind.

 

Wolfy, if you're talking about the old Penske Jaguar on Garvey Ave in West Covina, it wasn't about competition. The Penske dealer wanted to move to another and better location but Frod wouldn't let them. So he told them to shove it and closed the dealership.
We had leased a 2002 X-Type from that place and it was (IMHO) an exceptionally good dealer and I was sorry to see it go.

 

I live in Torrance so I'm talking about "Jaguar of the South Bay" near PCH & Hawthorne Blvd (my office is in Monterey Park). The South Bay/Beach Cities is a major market for luxury cars. It's a gross oversight for a car company that wants to stay competitive.
