Often wires hidden under an interior trim are wrapped in a foam insulation, purpose of which seems to be simply to prevent the wires from clanking against hard surfaces and thus emitting sounds.
Is it possible to replace the foam once it starts disintegrating? I mean I can't find a product that would resemble such insulation.
I have not seen yet an aftermarket repalcement. Also, those in the cars seem to be foam hoses that get applied before the connectors are istalled to the wiring. I do not see any other way how they could be put around the wires.
I am thinking about two possibilities:
one, to fix wiring with zip ties so that it cannot rattle, but this will not be possible everywhere.
two, there are rolls of self adhesive foam available in different sizes, and it would be possible to wrap these around the wiring loom to prevent rattles.
Something like this:
Best regards,
Thomas
