Default Extra Wires at Delanaire

While replacing the heater core in my '86 XJ6 recently I noticed these two loose wires coming out of a wrapped bundle behind the delanaire unit and just laying along the carpet below the resistance unit for the fan speeds. They are brown and have female bullet connectors at the ends that appear to have never been used. Everything appears to function in the system. Were they "extra" or did they have some other purpose?

Mine were never used either.
I was told once these were test leads and don't worry about them.

In Brit general scheme of thigs, followed more often than not by Jaguar, brown denotes always hot...

LnrB is correct. The 2 wires are test ports. If you place a jumper wire between the 2 wires, the blowers will turn on if they are good.
Carl: Actually, one of the brown wires is hot. Feed the single wire via a jumper to the the one with the 2 brown wires or viceversa to activate the blower motors.
Simple way of verifying the functionality of the blower motors.

Yup. Makes sense. Complete the hot circuit with the jumper and things light up...
