Default Noises from the dashboard

Hi all,

I have a strange noise that has started behind the dashboard. It appears to be coming from the space around the dashboard gap between the steering column and the radio/air con controls.

Does anyone know what this might be?

It makes the noise pretty much all the time the car is running but is noticeable when you switch off the ignition and it runs for about 2 or 3 minutes after you have removed the key. It then just suddenly stops and is completely quiet. The noise has only been happening for a little while but has recently got a lot more noisy.

Could this be the dials in the instrument cluster or something else behind the dashboard?

Thanks,

Chris

Have you checked the coolant level? Sounds like coolant bubbling in the heater core.

I can't quite tell if the sound is coolant bubbling or an actuator moving. The latter occurs when you shut off the car, the HVAC will close the recirc flap.

Hi guys,

Thanks for those suggestions. My coolant level is fine and does not move and I have no leaks either.

I've seen mentions on the web about an actuator behind that area of the dash that appears to be to do with the climate control. I'm trying to find out what the exact part is now and I'll look through the workshop manual to see what is actually behind that area of the dashboard.

Thanks,

Chris
