Just an update for those interested...after a 2 week wait to get in, and 2 weeks in the shop, it was determined the crankcase ventilation was clogged and causing the smoke. 80 for the part, 90 for labor and down the road I go. Next is the ABS DTC lights.....

ABS problem is often just a sensor.

Fully synthetic oil burns with a strong smell of burning rubber. I have been having a similar problem for some time; occasional clouds of grey smoke from my exhausts accompanied by a strong smell of burning rubber. I have replaced my PCV valve and fitted an Oil Catch - Can and when I get my car back from the mechanic's who are fitting my new suspension bushings and control arms, I shall post whether or not replacing this valve and fitting this oil catcher has solved the problem for me. My engine has 100,000 miles on it and probably has rather a lot of 'blow-by', which (I think) is oiling-up my inlet?
We shall see.......!

How did we start with a post about smoke from exhausts and end up with drive belts?
