Odometer/Message Center faded out

I recently purchased a 2006 Jaguar XJR. Within two weeks of purchase, my LCD readout on my odometer has faded to nothing. So no odometer reading or message center readouts are available. I have seen on the forum that bulb replacement may solve the problem. However, my LCD backlight is lit, there is just no seeable readout. Any suggestions? I am hoping that the whole instrument panel will not have to be replaced. All other gauges are working perfectly, and the car runs fantastic.

If it helps you, Our S Type readout was going away and telling us the boot was open at times. Turns out the push switch in the trunk had a rubber cover missing causing the button to not fully engage when the trunk was closed. The mileage reads correctly now once I replaced this rubber.

Well, low and behold...my readout has come back again. Yesterday afternoon, the mileage came back on, and now it is working fine again. There must be some sort of short. I spoke to a tech that said the LCD display is all that needs to be changed because it's not firing properly, so the print out doesnt show. Who knows...not sure I want to fix it if it is intermittent and it's not hurting anything.
