Opinions on this Jag.
This maybe one of those too good to be true deals. I've been watching this car for a while, it's at a Honda dealership of all places in PA. 2008 XJ L 89,000 miles, Ventilated seats, looks good in pics dark exterior, light interior. $17,500 is the listed price.
I'm wondering why it's so cheap. Is it strictly a mileage thing? Are these cars not prone to achiveing high miles? Do they start falling apart at the 90,000 mile mark?

They don't know Jags and it's outside of their ental playground so their salesmen don't know how to sell it. Put it all together and they are worried about the miles and are looking to move it.
Still, it does have 90,000 miles and the Jags are heavy electronics users so check it out thoroughly. The biggest concern aside from engine tranny problems (not common) is the sir suspension which at 90000 miles has almost certainly been repaired at least once and can be pretty expensive even if you're a DIY'er so check that part out. Perhaps a previous owner did you a favor and had a mechanical system installed like Arnott's.
There are plenty of owners with cars with higher mileage so wait for them to chime in. I got my 2004 with 58000+ miles for $9500 from a Toyota dealer in Florida so there are deals out there.

Hello,
No link on your post to view the car. In my opinion these are fantastic cars. I've owned many vehicles and this is my favorite to drive.
Some items wear as with any vehicle and some other items may wear prematurely such as air shocks or bushings, but this is not the case on all. Many minor maintenence items can be repaired by yourself and if not are repairable at a shop vs. local dealership (find independent Euro specialists) and repairs can be had for a reasonable amount.
I've got an 06 XJR and absolutely love the vehicle, did replace the upper grill with a "New Style Mina Gallery" grill.

Just checked the kelly blue book (subscription one). the wholesale price is about $21k, takes a big hit for miles ($3300). Trade in value is about $18k. First off, if its a trade what is the Jaguar doing at a Honda dealership. I know that Honda builds good cars, but to go from an 08 XJ8L into even a loaded Accord is a step down. My thinking is that this car may have had enough issues to drive the owner to get a car with virtually no issues. Other case may be that the car has body repair issues. In any case, I would strongly recommend a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Buyer beware
To someone who wants nothing more from their car than solid every day transportation, a stint in a Jaguar could be a nightmare. It might have looked and sounded cool at the time, but can you imagine a long-term Honda owner trying out an XJ8 and having even one or two of the common problems we Jag owners expect to face? One $2,000 trip to the dealer for a "simple" shock absorber replacement would be enough for this type of person to brand every Jaguar a "piece of junk" and proceed to the nearest dealer to get back into another beloved (if boring) Accord.
I paid $15.750k for an '04 with 54k miles - 1 owner and clean car facts. I would definitely check the car facts and make sure it hasn't been involved in any accidents. That seems really low. 2008's around here are going for $30k+ with between 40 and 60k miles on them.

So I never pulled the trigger on that Jag. I just wasn't comfortable with buying a car with such high miles at that price.
The car was taken off Auto trader about 10 days ago & I figured it was sold. I get an Auto Trader alert today about a newly listed car & low & behold it's the same car at a diffrent dealer, at a much higher price $22995.
I guess Honda sold it at auction & these guys bought it. I wonder if they know it was unsellable at $17,199.
Don't get me wrong it's a nice car but priced WAY to high now.

Cars that stay a long time on the forecourt are called "sleepers" in the UK motor trade, and normally after a certain time as "Rip van Winkle" get sold off cheaply. In this case it seems not, although the new dealer may find out sooner or later, (probably later), the actual selling (real) value of his car doesn't match his sticker price !
