Default Power Steering cooler bypass

Just purchased a 04 XJR and so far loving much more than our 03 X type. Doing a more intense underbody inspection I found that the line from the steering box 'T' fitting that I assume went to the PS fluid cooler has been plugged. Find no evidence of the actual cooler any longer. Is it safe to be without the cooler or will it cause premature pump failure?

Thanks

If you look on Ebay the cooler for your car is a very simple looking "device" and very cheap used. Around $50 or less.

Point I am making is that installing one to give peace of mind would not be that difficult.
