Default Is it Practical to Supercharge The naturally aspirated 4.2 L V8

Well this is something that has been on my mind since I first got my 2008 XJ: Could I easily buy a supercharger And have it installed and tuned? I very much enjoy the big V8, but in the back of my head I do want to push the boundaries a bit. My goal with my XJ over the next few years is to build an ultra luxury performance monster. I have so many more questions but I’ll start with the supercharger because it seems like the most unpractical thing I could do.

I had a nice XJ8 i was in love with a few years ago. Once I got used to the power, I started looking into the same thing. Did plenty of research, but in short terms... unfortunately this is not practical in any way.I ended up trading in the XJ8 for an XJR. Just wayyy to many details and reasons why this would not be practical. It not impossible I guess, but it would cost more than just buying an XJR.

Not impossible, but much cheaper just to buy an XJR

Harlethan;

+1 on the advise from jazzyjags and Frasier.

If you want a science project and you have loads of cash to spend; go ahead. In theory it's possible.
If you were to get an XJR or SV8 the engineering and reliability effort has already been invested.

Best Regards, William
