Just curious if Jaguar ever permits production numbers of cars to be made public. I'd be interested to know how many XJ8's, XJR's, VDP's are imported and sold in the US. Anyone ever see anything like that.

 

Yeah, there is a site out there that lists those numbers. I'll try to dig it up.

 

So far this is all I have found, but there should be more. If I am not mistaken, JD Powers keeps track of these numbers.

The X350 XJR:

2002 - 187
2003 - 3,192
2004 - 1,700

XJ Portfolio - 145 US

I have a 04 XJR, so that was the number I was curious about.

 

That's worldwide, by the way. And those are not model years, but build years. That's why the 2002 number is so low. They were introduced in 2003 and available in the US in 2004.

 

Wow, that is surprisingly low for worldwide figures. I found total sales for the US for all XJ's and they are:

2004 - 10552
2005 - 8304
2006 - 5027
2007 - 4474

Those are from Fords own press website.

 

I wonder how this compares to 7 series and S class sales/production.

I remember my sales rep saying something like around 20K per year US across the line (all models). The States and the UK get by far the largest distribution. THe site I saw had all countries listed. I think Germany and Australia were in the top 5, but the rest of the world distribution was anywhere from 5 cars to 50 cars per country. I'll see if I can find it again.

 

I suspect BMW and S-Class numbers each would be at least 3X higher in the US.
