Purolator Oil Filter
I have just decided that the classic Purolator oil filter specified for the 4.2 engine might not be made right for the car. I have had multiple cases (4) of leakage of these filters on two of my 4.2's, too many to be a fluke. The metal threaded part of the filter is too close to the car filter mount and the filter seems to not tighten correctly. Be careful with these. I used a Jag filter on the last change, it tightens fine.
I run the PureOne PL15317 on my 4.2 and have the same exact problem it doesnt seat and you will have a small drip leaking oil. I am switching to Wix at my next oil change. I think its the puralator brand in general.
I have a 1994 XJS 4.0 , I also have the PurolatorONE filter PL15317 I am about to install on my car. Do you think the leaking problem will likely be a problem for my car?
