My right rear red marker bulb has blown out. Does anyone know how to get to it in order to change it? Is it a matter of prying the cover off or attacking it from under the car or through the trunk?

Thanks for the help,

Thanks Rothwell,
I was reading on another thread that was saying to slide from the flat end towards the pointy end and it would release. This looks like it needs to be pried out though.

I guess the picture needs some explanation too.
The spring steel is putting pressure down so that the plastic hooks catch the body lip.
You need to apply pressure upward and then out at the bottom after the hooks clear their lips.
You don't need any tools to do it. I did it by hand.

Had to use tools to break mine free of what must have been accumulated wax etc.
Now .. BOTH the three-lobed right-angle bulb-socket - visible from its rear in the photos (above) - AND the quasi-rectangular two-blade connector that mates to it, had their contacts destroyed by corrosion. No remnants of protective goop detected. A bit of holiday-weekend searching, and the two parts needed 'appear' to be common with certain Fords (Explorer, comparable vintage).
Anyone have another economical source for either/both parts?
Tempting to put a ballasted LED into place, solder and sleeve the leads, and just RTV it, no sockets atall. Just might outlast any other method.
UPDATE:
Fixed mine. Marker assy, complete, from Hampton, connectors from Mouser, minor mods - work of a few minutes only.
