Rear Windshield replacement missing two connection points
Hi, I hope someone can shed some light on my situation. I have a 2003 XJR (x350) with premium entertainment system including TV and unfortunately a vandal put a hammer through my rear windshield. I ordered a replacement from my local Jaguar dealership in the UK (Part No. C2C4373 - Rear Windshield with TV), but when it arrived, the glass was missing two connection points at the bottom edge (SEE ATTACHED PDF DIAGRAM). There are two connection wires coming up through the rear parcel shelf on the car that should connect to the glass. The connection points that are on the new glass are labeled for FM/AM antenna and then there are connections labeled green / black but no label for the two points at the bottom. Now I think these missing connection points maybe for the TV antenna but not 100% sure. I asked Jaguar to order another one just incase the wrong version (without TV) was sent out by mistake, but even the second one was the same. The TV actually doesn't work anymore, as in the UK, analogue TV broadcasting ceased years ago and is now digital but my dilemma at the moment is do I get the glass company to fit this windshield and then find that the radio doesn't work anymore or if the radio is fine, what are the implications of not having the TV antenna connections. What if I wanted to upgrade the TV system in the car to digital? would I need to have those connections?
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. David. Damage to the car
I do not have knowlege why there are two different sort of glass widow inv the back. Got picture of both. I will have a look at mine
i have an 2003 xj8 with tv dvd
a 2003 xj6 simplest version ever /17 inch
and a 2003 xj8 no tv no dvd.
I do believe the buzzer for the parking sensors and the antenna are below the parcel shelf below the window.
i' ll post the photos soon
All 3 cars 2003 x350 have the same window, all without those black fingers at the lower center part pointing upwards to the roof.
the blue one has dvd
The gold one seems to have antenna below parcel shelf
This seems to be the antenna , but this car also had telephone.
There is snother antenna for the radio wich is this one . in the C pillar lh
(My cars are lhd )
The buzzer is also under the shelf rh
Hi Petz, Thank you for your post. Did any of your x350's ever receive live TV broadcasts? or were they always just DVD? as I think those pointy connections are for receiving live TV. I also have the Jaguar phone installed in the car and only just realised that would need connection to an antenna somehow, but seeing as you also have one with a different screen to mine, that suggests the phone must connect elsewhere, not the pointy ones. I'm just thinking that Jaguar may now deem these connections redundant as analogue TV signals stopped years ago. I just need to be sure and apparently finding out from Jaguar Landrover direct can take weeks.

Just found the following information in the Jaguar x350 2003 workshop manual:The antenna cable is split into two sections:
· Audio unit to floor console connector.
· Floor console connector to antenna isolator module.
The audio unit to antenna isolator module cable is located in the body wiring harness.
There are two audio antennas fitted to the vehicle, an AM antenna and an FM antenna, both
are located in the rear windshield glass. The AM antenna is above the heated rear windshield
element to the left-hand side. The FM antenna utilizes the heated rear windshield demist
element but does not carry the demist current. The power connector to the demist screen has a
filter in line called a positive wavetrap and the ground connector to the demist screen has a
filter called a negative wavetrap.
The diversity FM antenna is similar to the AM/FM antenna, except that two FM antennas are
derived from the demist pattern. As the demist screen is split to create the extra antennas, a
double wavetrap is fitted which has two positive connectors. The antenna isolator switches
between the two FM inputs and sends the strongest to the radio.
The antenna isolator module controls both antennas.
The TV antenna system is split into four and works the same as the diversity system for the
FM antenna. The TV antenna system consists of four amplifiers colour coded black, two
mounted onto the rear parcel tray and two mounted onto the right hand rear 'C' pillar. These
are connected to the rear backlite and use the same antenna as the FM audio antenna. In order
for a vehicle to have TV it must have the navigation option fitted.
This is the information I have found. It is mostly what you have, except that it states that the diversity antennas are 3, and not 2 as you state. It comes from the technical guide:
And here are the pictures of the rear windscreen of my car. It has TV, although, like you, I could never use it because the analogue signal has been switched off here in Germany, as well. As you can see, it also has the connectors that you are missing from the new screen, so I also assume that they are for the TV and that Jaguar just left them out because they have becokme useless.
And here's a picture taken some time agowhen I have refurbished the interior of my car. Unfortunately, it does not show where the cables from the plug on the screen go, but it shows how the C-pillar looks like with the TV amplifiers.
Hi Thomas, Sorry for the delay in replying. Thank you for the extra information. As I was pretty confident those connections were for the TV after looking at the workshop manual and after having 3 new screens delivered in total (All missing the connectors), I decided to just fit the thing and cross my fingers that the radio would not be effected. It was fine and radio works as normal. Just have to get the screen tinted again now as it looks odd with just the rear side windows tinted.
Thanks again for your help and thanks to Petz for his help too.
