Ok guys,

So I realized my XJR has remote start... Double click the lock button on the key fob and it fires up.

Now here's the weird, odd or pointless part. You CAN'T unlock the car once it's running with the keyfob. Pressing the unlock button does nothing except gets you a beep from the factory alarm horn. The only way to get into the car is to either a) Walk up and unlock it with the key blade. Or b) turn the remote starter off (and the engine off), and then unlock the car with the keyfob.

So I'm assuming either this installer did something stupid. Or their may be a missing aftermarket fob with the car that actually controls things the right way. Does the engine running automatically lock out the keyless entry system from locking / unlocking the car??

The car does have the brake pedal interface hooked up, so when you hit the brakes without the key in the ignition, it does in fact shut the motor down.

That's a pretty cool feature, but yes, once the car is started, remote unlock is disabled, not sure if that can be modified in WDS.

I would be curious to know how remote start was enabled on your vehicle though.

 

My suspicion is that it's aftermarket. Stellar and a couple other companies make add on remote start kits that use the factory keyfob by double locking..

I have an idea up my sleeve from my s-type days. I wonder if anyone has posted an electrical manual from jtis for the x350..

I really need to pull the car into the shop and take a look under the dash. The car has a really slick K40 radar install too.
