Hi hope everyone is well, replacing water pump, took off old one looks like one that came with car. my replacement is all metal. shop manual shows O-ring then gasket. old gasket was metal new one plastic, does O-ring go on outside of shaft up against pump, first then gasket, also gasket has 3 tabs do they fold up or down on shaft, I think up, also directions on box for new pump say to put gasket sealant on both sides of gasket old one didn't have any on ??? also so how the heck do u get old thermostat out of housing?? Do u hold down and turn. Help don't want to do this job twice thank u just trying to have so fun working on my car and get it fixed at same time. have a great day. thank you very much

 

Use hylomar for gasket sealant - both sides...
